Wow what a week! It was such a short week but we did so much! Monday we did our top secret project ;) We started the week of using our artistic side doing some directed drawing, painting, and even a little hot gluing (me of course).
We read The Polar Express and talked about the character traits of the little boy, the elves, and Santa. Then we watched the movie to come the two! We boarded the train and I stamped their tickets ;) and drank hot cocoa, all while we were in our pj's! We had such a great day and ended it listening to our first grade friends sing for us.
On Wednesday we did our candy cane experiment, where we put candy canes in different solutions (water, vinegar, and oil) and we made our hypothesis about what would happen to each candy cane. They guessed right! The candy cane in the water and vinegar disappeared. We also did a dancing candy can experiment where we watched candy canes dance, when we put half water, half vinegar, and baking soda together. We were amazed to see the reaction! They loved it!
On our last day before break we had such a great day! We finished our secret projects, made reindeer food for Santa's reindeer, and while we did that we had a special guest come visit us, Santa! Santa came and visited us and we all took a picture with him and told him what we really wanted for Christmas.
After recess we came back in and got ready for our games and our celebrations. The kids worked well together cheering each other on and having fun throwing snowballs at the tree and snowman cutouts. They had such fun! They also worked great as a team with the fish game. After we played we calmed down and had some snacks before it was time to go.
We had such a great time this past week. I can't wait to see what 2016 has in store for us! Thank you to all the parents and families for helping to make the first part of Kindergarten such a great one! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!
Merry Christmas
